London town

Welcome to good ole London town. On our whirl wind tour through London we were able to check out some of the cool spots. Just walking around was something else!! We hung around central London, where most of the action is. This is where the Tower of London is along with the London Eye, the Parliament buildings, Westminster Abby, Buckingham Palace and the West End (think Broadway for the North American crowd). I was lucky enough to experience all of these things. Frankly I think Steve just wanted to get it over with so he never has to go back to London ever again.

Two trade marks of London. The Bell tower (which contains Big Ben ....it's a bell) and the famous red phone booths.

Parliament is based right on the river Thames.

Steve and I took a ferry around central London. So we were able to see a bunch of things from a great view point. I highly recommend it.

I love this shot!!

On the ferry right in front of the London Eye ready to make some waves.

One of the wings in Parliament.

Parliament in all it's almost explodable glory.

An exhibition......it had Star Wars.....

The London Eye was originally called the Millenium Wheel (built for the year 2000), but was since renamed to it's present name.

Some scenes of London.

This is St. Paul's Cathedral.

Shakespeare rebuilt. The Rose theatre burnt down but it was reconstructed due to popular demand.

The new one is to the left and the rebuilt "original" is to the right.

This is a WWII battleship that they were just going to dismantle but then decided to permanently have it as a tourist drawl. I don't think it's doing it's job to well since I had never heard of it.

The Tower Bridge.

This is London's city hall.........also nick named "Darth Vader's mask".

The Tower of London and Traitor's gate.

The bigger picture of the Tower of London.

Street performers.

You place money in their pot and they move.....the living statue.....Hot Fuzz was right!!

I'm in the London Eye now. It's a huge Ferris wheel that takes about a 1/2 hour to go around on.

The "capsules" were actually designed/ inspired by ski lift rigs.

Aerial view of central London.

London was as gloomy as you are lead to believe. Both days we were there were overcast and rainy.

One last piece of art before you leave this area.

Awesome pictures Cheryl, I'm even more jealous now!!!

But... Are you sure that wasn't the Globe theater (not the Rose theater?)

Never mind, I just looked it up. Rose Theater was in Shakespeare in Love. The Globe theater was the theater USED by Shakespeare.

Sigh. Jealous anyway!!!
