Edinburgh

Edinburgh is an amazing city! I am so happy that Ste decided to take me. We went at the best time to go as well.......August is a month long fringe festival in Edinburgh which includes theatre, comedy, art and the Military Tattoo. For three days we explored the central area while enjoying comedy and theatre (unfortunately we were not able to procure Tattoo tickets).

I was enchanted by this city. Everywhere you look is beautiful architecture and this feeling of history! I lapped up every moment of it!

One of the first things that we did was get on a 24 hour city tour bus. What better way than to see things than to have a tour with a history lesson?

We circled the central core of the city (basically in and around the castle) and it also took a bit of a detour to pass by the royal residence of the Queen which is right near the natural history museum.

That bridge that you see was made in the 17th or 18th century (gemmie a break it's been a few months). It is a feat of architecture. The bridge looks like a street when you are on it.....in fact if you didn't know about it you would think the bridge started when you didn't see any buildings when in fact it started blocks before.

Other than the castle this is a very prominent land mark in central Edinburgh. This is Sir Walter Scott's monument.

Right near where we stayed....and there's the tour bus!

You'll see this again...I love the Gothic look of it.

The castle in the distance.

A closer look at the castle.

A even bigger closer look at the castle.

A random church.

The Brit's got some humor.

A church very close to the castle.

The walk up to the castle.

My first look at the castle.

The entrance.

Ste has a scared expression on his face.

Up the twisty road of the castle.

A view across the castle from one of it's many look out points.

Everywhere in Britain is busy.

My first cannon sitting...

The castle goes up and up.

Beautiful views are everywhere.

A way to tell time. At one o'clock everyday a cannon would go off and the people would reset their clocks (and adjust the time depending on how far out they were...as in adding a few more seconds). There is also a white ball that would fall so their was also a visual of it.

You just know he's carrying my shopping.....

Map of Scotland.

The church inside which has now been converted to a war monument.

Ste checking out the skirts.

The dog grave yard....

Ste would never make a solider.

Higher view of the rest of the castle.

Everything is so green because it doesn't really stop rainning.

The church/war museum.

Going into the church/war museum.

Decorations in the front.

Ste's isn't a permanet fixture.

These are some of the beautiful stain glass windows in the throne room.

The throne room was the size of a small house. High cellings, dark wood with red paint...it is very magestic.

The spears above the huge fireplace at the end of the hall.

This painting is hung at the entrance to the throne room.....last thing you see as you exit.

A blurry picture of what the entire castle looks like.

Walking around near the castle.

Steve and I took a walk on our first night and took this amazing picture!!! One of my favorites!

This is Sir Walter Scotts memorial at night.

Celtic cross in the huge park beneath the castle (as in it looks like the park use to be a river bed but has since dried up and has been developed into a park beneath the big hill in which the castle sits).

Apparently the most famous dog in Scotland.

His master died and he waited by his masters grave until he to died.

A view from above.

We went to a natural history museum....it was AWESOME. They did this museum up right. I highly recommend it if you are in Edinburgh and are looking to kill a morning.

hehehehe pig

In the distance you can see the castle.....this was above the park.

Sir Walter Scott in the daylight.

There are a lot of cobbal streets.

What houses look like in downtown Edinburgh.
General picture.

No space, no green........bad city!

This street is famous because it's actually a bridge....but when you are on it you have no idea!

Mmmmmmmm soup.
