Westminster Abby. What a beautiful place! Right behind the Parliament. I feel like this is the center piece of central London.
The Abby was developed as just that an Abby. It was never really intended as a church as we know today.
Inside it houses the remains of Knights dating back to the 12th century! Back then only extremely important people where buried here. But later on in the centuries it became a "rich man's grave yard" where not only Kings and Queens were buried but lords, noted public figures and a lone grave of a WWI John Doe.
Inside it is massive! I was bad and took some pictures..........What you see above you is the far wall near where the noted public figures are buried.
This is above the main entrance.
This is original tile that was laid in the church. The brighter tiles are the ones that have been restored.
The Abby has been the site of all the coronations since ( I believe Queen Victoria.....but I think even longer). A really amazing room that I was not able to capture was the "Rose" room. This is where King James the 1st built an addition on to the Abby to dedicate it to his mother Mary Queen of Scots....and also to his Aunt.....Queen Elizabeth. This room is beyond beautiful. Interesting enough the English Queen is in a smaller room to the side.
This stain glass is also original. It is very fortunate that the Abby wasn't touched during WWII when the Germans were dropping all the bombs. Liverpool wasn't so fortunate.

The architecture is beautiful and breath taking, yet another must if you come to England.

Buckingham Place. It's weird to say but I kinda expected more. It looks like a large building. The outside that faces the entrance is covered in coloured cement....to be fair though across the street is a beautiful park.
This is a smaller ....thing down the street. I think it's where some of the guards are housed...at least this is where the changing of the guards started.
A bigger shot of the palace.
