Jingu lanturn festival

At the start of October we ventured to Jingu to take in the lanturn festival. If people remember I went last year but Steve missed it by a week, so he had to see it this year.

We went down with our co worker Jolon (New Zealand) and started hitting up the town.

I can't get enough of Buddha.....I'll go into withdrawl when I go back home.

With festivals comes games, food and pretty much anything else you can think of. The boys tried to see who was the better shot.

See just like at home!

Both of them got the same amount so they were treated with the same prize.

And then the funny glasses came out.

A closer view to the lanturns before they were lite up.

Ahhh paddle boats....

And we finally got to go in them!!!

I made the boys work while I did my photography. Wise decision.

The picture of the moment!

I don't know why Jolon looks so grumpy.

I stayed with Jolon but Steve took in these acts while we waited for people from Geochang to come and meet us.

The main area of the festivel.

They had two pathways that you paid a dollar to get across.

This is the view from the fortress that overlooks the river.

At night when you can really see the lanturns come alive!

Ste, Martyn, Sonny, Chris and Jolon.

The cranes lined the fortress wall near the water.

Perfect pose.

Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

One of the gates to get into the fortress.

We walked around both sides of the river. I think it was bigger than last year.

That's Ste.........I know it's hard to tell.

The peacocks that breath fire.

I wasn't even going to try and get their fire breath on film.

This was actually the 5th picture. I was determined to get it on film!

The fountain of youth ....maybe...

The year of the golden pig is comingto an end.

The fireworks that we watched before we got onto the walkway.

This one's for you Lyndsey!!

All the lanturns that the kids made.

These are actually garbage cans.

Lanturn Bell.

People for some reason carry felt pens around just for this reason......signing a lanturn.

Once again Ste.....and our friend E.T.

Might I say there were no American lanturns anywhere to be seen.
