July 1st BBQ

I got home the day before Canada day. For all those not in the know Canada day is celebrated on July 1st. We do it up with BBQ's fireworks, games and some good ole fashioned socializing. Mel put on a great party that almost all of my friends were able to make it to. It was an excellent start to my time in Canada.

Sherrill and Heather contemplating the very large Soju bottle that stood before them.

Tobias and I having a good laugh.

Kristen and Chris getting cozy. Because I rock soooooooooo much these guys were able to hook up. I credit myself for their happiness and if it should ever fade (knock on wood) I blame society in general.

Naval, Travis and Chris toasting to ....I can't remember so I'll just claim myself!!

Naval and I in a pose.

Ok it's Canada day. I LOVE Canada. OF COURSE I'm going to be proclaiming that I was made in Canada. Unlike others I know who were made in Italy or Indian (laughs).

YAY!!!! Maysam was able to make it out!!! Sadly this was the only time I was able to catch up with him.

Phil and I catching up on our eating.

LOL. Mel just got back from Jordan where she decided to buy Naval one of these hats (for lack of knowing the terminology). He really does look the part of a terrorist now.

Mel and Travis broke out the water. What really started this all was Mel trying to hit Travis, Naval and I with water balloons. After that fray, Travis calmly walked into the house got a very large cup of water, strolled over to where Mel was sitting and dosed her with it. What resulted was then caught on tape.

Heather was an excellent DD even though this picture looks suspicious. That's all Soju btw.

Later on at the fireworks. Phil, Myself, Mel, Travis, Heather, Sherrill, Chris and Kristen.

Waiting for the fireworks to start. Dave seems distressed by it though.

I have way more pictures of this............but they are on my parent's computer never to be accessed by me again. Take heart though, I will get them sometime.

Rockie Mountains

Welcome to the Rockie mountains....you may remember them in such films as.......yah I got nothing. Anyway Mom and Dad took us through the Rockie Mountains on our way to Calgary to send us off to England so we could be Steve's parents problem. We traveled through the mountains for three days stopping at beautiful mountains, waterfalls, and huge rapids!!!!

Steve and I with our backs to a very large waterfall. Might I say that you don't get that in Saskatchewan!!!
This is one of many things that you would see. The water finds a pathway through the mountains and after centuries of carving out a path the water runs very quickly. You can hear when you are getting close!!

One of the falls (see, we didn't have to go to Niagara Falls!)

The power of the water is really something else!

This is Steve on a Glacier. We are at the Columbia ice fields located between Banff and Jasper in the Rockie Mountains. It was really interesting to see how quickly it is receding!!! We walked past many markers that showed where it sat 50 years ago to 3 years ago.

Steve didn't quite believe me when I said that it'd be cold and to bring a jacket. It's an ice field, it's cold for a reason. When you looked around the ice field, even where there isn't ice, it's a barren place.

They had cones out to mark where you could go safely. Dad asked us what we learned when we got back from walking to it. I replied "People are dumb, and it's receding". I say the first part because there are so many signs telling you to stay within the cones because of hidden ice caverns underneath the ice. Should you find and fall into one you will probably be dead in about 8 minutes due to extreme hypothermia (all the icy water flowing over you ect). They also had signs posted saying the last three rescue attempts failed. And yet if you look at the pictures above this one you will see that there are people way beyond us....and we were literally two steps away from the cones.

A far away shot of the ice fields.

Steve was checking out some water closely.

A part of the forest that surrounds everything here.

My dog Jean Luc meeting up with one of his kind......doesn't happen a lot.

This is looking straight down.

One of the gorges.

The brilliant outdoors in Canada.

A shot of the family......with the Timmies......see proves it's Canada.

Mom and I soaking up the attention.

Steve taking his turn. He shows off that Waygook shirt in every country!!

This is a cool pic to see how the water really does shape the land around it.

Mountain goats on the side of the road.

This is right near Lake Louise. These mountains use to be on the back of our twenty dollar bills.

This is also where Steve received his biggest disappointment of the trip. He finally saw an RCMP officer..........but he didn't recognize them because he expected them to be wearing their red uniform. I explained that it is their dress uniform.......he said he felt like he was lied to!! I think he's just being himself.

Last night in Toon

My last night in town was almost ill' fated!!! We had originally made plans to meet at a bar, we get there and it's closed!!! And me without people phone numbers. We quickly made plans to go to our English pub Winstons. Ahhhh Winstons. Where you can drink around the world IF they actually have what is on the menu in stock. We managed to have a good time anyway.

Myself, Amanda and Nelson in a more.....intimate shot. Someone dared me to do it. I think I'll blame Kristen on this one!

Matt made a welcome appearance!

All smiles and giggles.

Frankie and I getting close. I was thrilled when she showed up!!

Chris and Kris.....ten hehehe.

Group shot!! From left to right.....Mel, Phil, Nelson, Amanda, and Dave.

Chris, Kristen, Kayla.....and you can see Sherrill's nose....

Mel and I.

Philber!!!!!!

I should be a spokes person......Sherrill and her taste in foreign beer *scoff* perfectly good beer in Canada!

Ok, people kept buying me drinks....

Kayla was able to shake her shacks and make it down for a healthy fruit juice!!

I HAD TO tug it!!!!!!!!!!

Hummmmmm I think Chris liked Steve more than what Kristen wanted.....it's ok though, Steve's across the world with me now Kristen lol.

Another year, another picture.........how many going away pictures are we gonna take together?

Note: there are many more of these pic's....it's getting the evidence from others that is the problem.
